It can consist of a skirt with an attached bodice, or a matching bodice giving the effect of a one-piece garment. Women’s dresses can also be a top piece that covers the torso and hangs down over the legs. Commonly, it provides protection and warmth to the wearer, but it’s also one way of communicating our identity to others.
